Gel trays are fabricated from UV transparent acrylic to enable direct reading of ethidium bromide stains. Grooves in the gel tray for placement of combs allow single run or two simultaneous short runs. Trays are made from 1/4" thick acrylic to prevent heat distortion of tray during application of hot agarose. This tray features agarose slab anchors to help prevent gel from detaching from tray. A gel tray divider bar, which allows the user to cast a half length gel while retaining the width, can be ordered as an accessory. For example, if you have a 14cm x 20cm gel tray and wish to run a single 14cm x 10cm gel for sample screening, simply insert the gel tray divider bar in the center comb slots and pour the agarose. This technique is especially useful when you need to run a large number of small samples a short distance. This accessory effectively converts your standard size submarine gel system into a wide "mini-gel."
Precision-machined polycarbonate combs can be adjusted to the desired height above the gel tray (or above cooling platform with use of a Gel Comb Bridge). Combs avail-able for the 14cm-wide units come in 1, 3, (one large well with two marker lanes on each side or three equal wells), 5, 8, 10, 12, 13, 16, 20, 26, or 27 wells in thicknesses of 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, or 3.0mm. Combs available for 20cm-wide units come with 1, 2, 3, (one large well with two marker lanes on each side or three equal wells), 5, 8, 12, 16, 20, 30, or 40 wells with thicknesses of 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, or 3.0mm. Gel Comb Bridges can be ordered for either 14cm or 20cm- wide units. This accessory holds the gel comb in position when pouring gels directly on the gel bed without the use of a gel tray.
Agarose Wick Option - 
This option is factory mounted and is provided for researchers
that prefer running horizontal agarose wick gel electrophoresis. Two styles
of agarose wicks are available:
Option 1) Removable agarose wicks: These are for the researcher that
desires to run both agarose wick and submarine gels in the same unit. The
wick is formed by pouring agarose into the compartment adjacent to the gel
bed, as shown at top right.
Option 2) Stationary agarose wicks: Baffles are not removable. Agarose
is poured into "J"-shaped compartment formed by fixed baffles,
as shown at bottom right.
