The Radioiodination Hood is designed to be used inside existing
fume hoods to minimize the iodine volatization hazards present during radiolabelling
procedures. Most standard laboratory fume hoods alone do not provide the
adequate airflow, proper ventilation, nor the charcoal filtration necessary
to sufficiently reduce radioactive iodine from evolving into the general
air supply. This hood significantly reduces these hazards, making it a simple,
cost effective way of upgrading an existing fume hood.
Accessories - AIR SAMPLER: To facilitate monitoring of activated charcoal filter capacity, Sooner Scientific offers an air sampler to test for escaping radioactivity in hood exhaust. Additionally, these samplers should be used to monitor the breathing zone air during experimental procedures. This sample contains highly efficient activated coconut charcoal inside a 1/2" O.D., 4" long polypropylene tube with serrated edges.
REPLACEMENT ACTIVATED CHARCOAL FILTER: This filter is 12" x 12" x 2" and contains 5 lbs. of activated charcoal, with 2 fiberglass prefilters on the top and bottom to eliminate dust.
