Borosilicate Glass Plates

New borosillcate glass plates that are unsurpassed in flatness and optical clarity. The new borosillcate glass plates simplifies the pouring of bubble-free sequencing gels as thin as 0.2mm thick.

Rack With Handles

The Sooner Scientific 12 place glass plate drying and storage rack is constructed of high strength structural ABS with hand supports for ease in carrying from bench to sink. The racks are available in either grey (Cat. # FQG-100F) or black (Cat. # FQG-100A) making color coding possible to differentiate between clean and dirty, or pre-treated and untreated, or front and back glass plates.

PRINTED SHARKSTOOTH COMBS

The Sooner Scientific printed sharkstooth dual purpose combs feature numbered wells and can be inverted to be used as a casting comb. Lines drawn on either end of the comb indicate the optimal casting well depth. The numbered wells allow a convenient method to keep track of samples. These low cost mylar combs are available in 0.2mm, 0.3mm & 0.4mm thickness.

GLASS PLATE SEPARATORS

This plastic wedge-shaped separator was designed to avoid damage to glass plates while safely prying apart gel plates after electrophoresis or when scraping the gel off the plates for disposal. Previously both these tasks were performed using a metal spatula and razor blade often causing small cracks or scratches which could interfere with data collection or gel casting. Simply insert wedge at top of plate sandwich and gently push down (as shown on right) Cat. # VOR-100 (set of two).

Sliding-Plate Gel Caster

The Sooner Scientific Sliding-Plate Gel Caster greatly simplifies the pouring of problem-free sequencing gels as thin as 0.2mm and can be adjusted to cast gels of many dimensions. This sliding plate technique can be accomplished in a matter of minutes and eliminates the time consuming and often unreliable use of yellow tape, clamps or plasticine. Pouring a gel from the top of the gel plate sandwich can often result in trapped air bubbles or acrylamide leakage, The sliding plate technique solves these problems by utilizing capillary action to advance the gel boundary resulting in bubble-free gels. Both preparation and clean-up time are greatly reduced.

Two models are available for gel lengths of 22-42cm or 22-62cm. Both models feature a telescoping width adjustment allowing the user to pour variable width gels ranging from 20cm to 38cm. Once the plates and reagents have been prepared the gel can be cast following the six simple steps.

Mylar Spacer Sets for ABI 377

Spacer sets are available in 12cm, 24cm, 36cm & 48cm wtr, 0.2mm thickness x 2.54cm width.

Mylar Spacer sets for ABI 370 & 373

Spacer sets are available in 6cm, 12cm, 24cm, 36cm & 48cm wtr, 0.3mm & 0.4mm thickness x 2.54cm width.

Mylar Sharkstooth Combs for ABI 377

Sharkstooth Combs are available in 24, 32, 48, 64 & 96 well. combs are 0.2mm thickness x 20cm length. These sharkstooth combs have the attached back support at the appropiate depth down the comb back used as a casting comb. After the gel polomerizes turn the comb over and insert the sharksteeth into the gel. All combs are micro-well formatted for multi-channel loading. The 24, 32, 48 & 64 well combs are 4.5mm, 3.0mm & 2.25mm point to point spacing respectively. The 96 well comb is formatted to the 10.8mm protocol for the ABI 96 lane upgrade.

Mylar Staggertooth Combs for ABI 377

Staggertooth Combs are available in 36 well & 48 well format. The combs are 0.2mm thickness x 20cm length, 3.0mm & 4.5mm center to center. These square tooth combs with approximately 1/4 inch offset (approximately the distance traveled by the DNA sample during the odd even loading methods used for sequencing). Both are microwell formatted for multi channel loading. The staggertooth comb concept was developed by Dr Elaine Mardis and Dr Richard Wilson of the Washington University Genome Sequencing Center St Louis, Missouri USA.

Mylar Sharkstooth Combs for ABI 370 & 373

Sharkstooth Combs are available in 0, (casting comb)24, 32, 48 & 64 well. Combs are 0.3mm & 0.4mm thickness x 20cm length. All combs are micro-well formatted for multi-channel loading. The 24, 32, 48 & 64 well combs are 4.5mm, 3.0mm & 2.25mm point to point spacing respectively.

Mylar Staggertooth Combs for ABI 373

Staggertooth Combs are available in 36 well & 48 well format. The combs are 0.3mm & 0.4mm thickness x 20cm length, 3.0mm & 4.5mm center to center.
